Unfortunately, what you have concluded seems to be the only solution being offered here. I've been trying to get mine back since February. I've made it to over 700K addresses one time before the app. failed and I had to start over and a couple of other times i've gotten into the 400,000 range with no luck.
To get help you need to give more information, what wallet are you using? Are you sure you're using the same seed where your funds are? What have you tried besides scanning more addresses?
